A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Best restaurant in Bilbao! It's a small clean place and comfy. The food was absolutely delicious. The high quality menu is very nice. We had oxtail hotdogs and monkfish for example. Also the desserts taste yummy! Would recommend anyone Be sure to make a reservation."
"Amazing restaurant, absolutely recommended! The highlights were the duck and the tarta de queso, different than the standard Bilbao one but absolutely O R G A S M I C"
"We had an absolutely delicious lunch here. Lucky for us, we managed to get a reservation for four – during the meal, several people came in hoping for a table, but the place was fully booked. A big shout-out to the chef, who’s clearly turned cooking into an art form. The food is honest, authentic, and full of rich, surprising flavors. You can choose from starters, mains, and desserts. We shared two starters, each had a main, and finished with two desserts to share – every single dish was finger-licking good. The flavor combinations were original and the ingredients tasted super fresh. The friendly service made the whole experience even better. A cozy and tasty spot we’ll definitely remember. Highly recommended for food lovers! Note about the photos: we were sitting under a wall covered with green leaves and the name Aura in pink neon-style letters… you can see it in the pictures, as it gives them a bit of a purple glow."
"Small. Really small. Intimate. Simple. But so well performed. Very nice Sirloin. Super dulce/coco dessert. Attentive service. A bit noisy but still manageable."
"Wow. Just wow. This mother (server) and son (chef) duo have created a very special place. We started with the oxtail hotdogs which set our expectations very high. We followed with the Iberian pork plate which I believe was a pork loin served over their creamy mushroom rice. This was a close second to the oxtail hot dogs. My fiancé described the octopus as “flavorful and tender.” Now the cheesecake. We were stuffed but decided we had to try it since we had seen a prior review that said the cheesecake was so good that they ordered a second one. However, when we asked about it our waitress said it was a blue cheese cake. I do not love blue cheese… I was immediately unexcited. We ordered it anyway. Now let me tell you the that was the most delicious cheesecake I may have ever had."
"We had an excellent dinner at this small and friendly restaurant right around the corner from the cathedral. We were able to reserve ahead for a group of 10. The staff is very welcoming and it’s casual but very clean and well presented. Obsessed with the lamb dumplings. Octopus, monkfish and duck breast were also very good."
"Had a great time at Aura for dinner.. The lamb dumplings were a highlight but all dishes we had were great: the duck and sirloin were our mains. Also enjoyed the cheesecake but would avoid this if you don't like blue cheese as I believe this is used in it. Great service, very accommodating without a booking. Highly recommend."
"I had a wonderful experience at Aurea in Bilbao. I visited with my husband and our 5‑month‑old baby, and the team could not have been more welcoming. Their hospitality made us feel completely at ease from the moment we arrived. We ordered the Perrito de Rabo, the Magret de Pato Presa Ibérica, two glasses of wine, and a beer. Since I am breastfeeding, I chose a non‑alcoholic wine, which was excellent. Every dish was beautifully prepared, but the Magret Duck was truly outstanding. The dessert was so delicious that I only remembered to take a picture after I had already finished it. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The prices were fair, especially considering the quality of the food and the exceptional service. I highly recommend Aurea to anyone visiting Bilbao."
